One of the jewels of The Phillips Collection in Washington DC is Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series. It is a sequence of 60 paintings which depicts the mass movement of African Americans from the rural South to the urban North between World War I and World War II.

The museum now asks what would the 61st panel would look like today. On its website, it features some thoughtful responses to this question by local artists, while inviting everyone to Submit your #Panel61.
