The Migration Museum Project, an organisation set up to make the case for a permanent migration museum in Britain, has secured an exhibition space in Lambeth, south London for nine months.

From 26 April the project will start hosting events, exhibitions and education workshops in the events space Workshop – part of a building leased by developer U + 1, which is currently seeking planning permission to redevelop the site.

The venue will open with the exhibition Call Me by My Name: Stories from Calais and Beyond, which was put on for the first time at the Londonnewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch last year, and features works by artists, former residents of the Calais camp and aid workers. This will be followed by exhibitions looking at migrants’ objects and memories and key historical events relating to migration.
